In the middle of a scary worldwide thing called a “pandemic,” Jack can’t go to school, but he gets to see his teachers every Thursday for a visit. Even though he’s worried, the teachers are really nice to him, and they ask him what snack he wants them to bring him. That’s easy, says Jack, “a lemon tart!” And so begins a journey to find the perfect treat for a little boy trapped in his home during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Written by two schoolteachers, The Lemon Tart is loosely based on their experiences bringing joy to a young student in early-2020. It’s a children’s book about the resilience of children, the love of a community, and being grateful for getting something even if it’s not what you wanted.
